Surging aerospace demand for titanium alloys drives commercial rocket orders for high-end titanium materials exceeding RMB 5 billion.

In 2026, commercial spaceflight is poised to enter a period of explosive growth. As the “skeletal framework” of space applications, titanium alloys are used in quantities of 30–50 tonnes per large launch vehicle and 50–200 kilograms per low-Earth-orbit satellite. Domestically leading company Baotai Shares has secured aerospace titanium-material orders totaling more than RMB 5 billion for the 2026–2028 period, with production capacity fully booked through the end of 2027. Breakthroughs in additive manufacturing—specifically laser cladding combined with hot forging—have enhanced the performance of Ti-6Al-4V alloy beyond that of conventional forgings, enabling its use in the pressure-resistant hull of the “Fendouzhe” deep-sea submersible, where it has reduced weight by 40% and extended service life by 50%. Demand for aerospace-grade titanium alloys in the defense and space sectors is expected to grow by more than 50% in 2026.
